What is a proofread? 

​

Your writing will be typeset (this means it will include any images that may be required and will generally look how it will when published, be this in book format or online). When performing a proofread I will use proofing marks to indicate errors such as missed punctuation, images that don't match the captions and text out of alignment. This is the final stage of editing and will ensure that your work is ready to share with the world.

1. Spelling, punctuation and grammatical checks that may have been missed in a previous edit

2. Final check to ensure your work looks good and is ready to be published

 

 

Copy-edit from £150 per 50 A4 pages

 

What is a copy-edit? 

 

A copy-edit will ensure that the writing is accurate and clear. During a copy-edit I will check facts as well as correcting any spelling, punctuation or grammatical errors. 

 

To sum up:

1. Spelling, punctuation and grammatical corrections

2. Fact-checking

3. Ensure text reads accurately and clearly

 

 

Full Structural Edit from £200 per 50 A4 pages

 

What is a full structural edit? 

 

This is a substantial edit that will include not only corrections on spelling, punctuation and grammar, but also identification of where the structure might not be working. It will also include an explanation of any issues that may be present and how to go about fixing them. 

 

To sum up:

1. Spelling, punctuation and grammatical corrections

2. Ensure text reads accurately and clearly

3. 'Voice check' to make sure the tone remains consistent throughout

4. Identification of whether or not the structure works, and ideas on how to fix this if present

 

 

CV, cover letter, newsletter, online content edits and re-writes from £20 per project. Please contact me for more information.

A few important things to take note of:

When you contact me for a quote I will ask you to submit three pages of your manuscript. This is just for me to assess the level of editing that is required for the project. These can be sent in Microsoft Word, Apple Pages or PDF format and I will ask for a page near the beginning, somewhere in the middle and near the end of your MS. This does not apply for smaller projects such as CV checks and newsletter edits.

All quotes are based on the document being presented in Times New Roman, 12pt, 1.2 line spacing.

Please note that the prices listed above are baseline rates and I will be able to give you a more accurate quote once I have assessed your work.

For proofreads, copy-edits and full structural edits a deposit of 10% of the final agreed upon price is required to secure work (this will be deducted from your final invoice). Please note that this deposit is non-refundable should you choose to withdraw the work at any stage.
